At the turn of a new year, most of us make resolutions for the three hundred and sixty-something days to come; resolutions which, let’s face it, are seldom achieved or remembered by a lot of us!
Here I am, dangling my feet over the edge of 2009, waiting to take my first steps into 2010, and I’m not so sure of the specifics anymore. That is, with regards to resolutions.
Usually, I am incredibly particular with the things I choose to set as my goals for the year, but lately I’ve found myself feeling rather lost. I have so many different ideas and don’t know which path to focus on yet, so my 5 resolutions are going to be rather vague and general, but ultimately able to be applied to anything (and everyone), and will result in a more positive year overall.
My 5 Top Resolutions to myself for the coming year are…
1. Try at all times never to underestimate the value of kindness. Keep a smile on your face, and regularly do something nice for another person, even if it is something miniscule.
2. Focus on what you are passionate for, and do not, for the love of all that is good in the world, focus on the words of anyone who discourages your aspirations, no matter how high or ridiculous those aspirations may be. Unwanted negativity is something we can all do without.
3. Do something, even if it is just one thing this year, which is outside of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself. Seize an opportunity. Shock yourself with what you can do if you just go for it.
4. Try not to get to a point where you have to say “I’m bored”. Occupy yourself with something. Use your time wisely. If you can’t be bothered to get up and do anything then at least read a book. Learn something new, or get lost in fantasy. It always helps ;)
5. Laugh your socks off at every given opportunity.
All the best for 2010, everybody! You all deserve a delightful year…yep…even YOU. ;)

Dear Elise,
If you wrote a self-help book, I would buy it. I had these goals in mind but they were simply set aside.
These are awesome and can be applied to everything! I LOVE. I need to step out of my comfort zone and try to do more for myself next year.
