Winter Tan Blues

Is it just me or are you counting down until the next day off or until winter break? I am absolutely. I am missing the sun, the beach, the ocean, the warm weather.

I NEED some vitamin C in my life. Since fake tanning isn't an option being preggo, I am seriously pale. I tried spray tanning; and yeah at first I was really tan. But then, eventually it started to come off, and I looked spotted.  THANK GOD it is winter and no one could see that because it looked absolutely awful!!!

Also being pregnant I have had very VERY itchy skin. I have been through many different types of lotions and finally have found one that doesn't drive me crazy anymore. In the beginning, I used to get these huge bruises all over my legs because I would be scratching my skin in the middle of the night! Talk about feel like a crazy person!

So I am literally counting down until we buy our plane tickets (pay day tomorrow) then I will be counting down until February 17th when we leave for Puerto Rico.

Earthquake or not Puerto Rico, I am coming to the goddamn beach!!!!

Rainy day today doesn't help either.

A Beach Vacation

{picture}

Finally I have a weeks vacation off! I am down the Jersey Shore with my family and we are literally right on the beach. I am SO excited about that. It is soooo nice. I got here this afternoon and I cannot wait to go out to the beach tomorrow! I will probably drive on down to Ron John's Surf shop tomorrow or so and get some clothes (love that place and there are not many of them)

It will be nice to hang out with my family and then some of my friends are coming down this weekend to go out and partayyyy. It should be a good time!

Anyone going on vacation this month? August is usually the vacation month.

Weekend in Florida

Life in Florida is sooooooo soooo different. Everything moves much slower. I almost feel everyone moves so much slower because it is so damn hot. Is that even a valid excuse to move that slow and have everyone accept it?

My best friend lives there with her husband and I went down to see them. I was hoping the baby was born this weekend, but obviously she was not :( But I did get to spend time with them so that was fun. We just chilled out, I went to the pool and beach and drank.... couldnt ask for more!!!

And we went out to dinner for Mother's Day!

And I got to see the finished baby room... which was SO SO cuteeeee!!

And the pool was just awesome..

Overall it was so nice to leave New York and not have to worry about anything or anyone. No one ruined my trip, no one gave me a hard time, I didn't stress because someone I was dating would be hanging out with other girls.... nothing.

So amazing to not feel like that.

THAT is what I wish had happened when I went to Vegas and California. What a bastard for ruining my trip. Stupid piece of shit!

Anyway,,,I am sad to be home again. It was so nice to be off and to hang out with them. It makes me wonder why I live in New York where it's cold all the time. Hopefully one day I won't be here for the winter!

How was everyone's Mother's Day?

In need of a Vacation

{me at macchu picchu}

I really need to go on a vacation again. I know I just went on it but it was ruined so that honestly didnt really count. Florida is coming up the first weekend of May so that will be cool, but after that.. I want to do something... like 3rd world country again... i miss it.

There are so many different websites to find where to go and how to get there and it basically all comes down to one thing: the price. Honestly, I am looking for the cheapest way to get to wherever I am going and the cheapest place to stay that isn't nasty. So, you'd think that would be easy to find, but then you have the 5 million websites to choose from, and how do you know that that website is cheaper then the next?

I can say that I have planned MANY vacations in my time, and I have never been disappointed with my planning skills. The most important thing when planning the vacation, is finding hotel deals. There are SO many hotel websites out there and places to choose where to stay, that I have found the best deals at Discount Hotels. They literally give you everything on this site. You can find discounts on hotels, flights, cars, cruises...you name it.

Hotels are sometimes way wayyyyyy over priced and if you don't know any better, you might just pay that over priced rate for a crappy little room. The best bet, would be searching hotel discounts because honestly, what is the point of paying $500 for one night when you can pay $100 for the same exact room. NONE! Especially now a days, save that extra money and spend it on something better!

I love to travel, and it sucks that I can't as much now because I don't have that much money, but when i do get to travel, finding the lowest rates to get there, is the best way to go. I just found this website called usa.gov, that when you go there, it has a list of all 50 states and it links to the state website, which is really cool especially since it gives you a bunch of ideas to do if you go to that state.

Go check these out and get planning....summers almost here!!

Where is your next vacation to??

Costa Rica Part 1

I just got back from Costa Rica.. i was there for 11 days.. too short.
What a great country. I love it there. Although the Pacific coast was crazy hot, and unbearably hot!! Caribbean coast was amazing. I love it there. Everyone was really chill and when we asked the locals about if there was crime or anything like that, they said there wasn't any there. Although the Caribbean coat there wasn't very much to do, but the vibe I got there opposed to the Pacific coast was completely different.

I would recommend staying on both sides of the country when going to Costa Rica.

Here are a few things that I thought are important to know, that when reading about vacation online or in a Nat Geo book because let me tell you; we bought that book and the descriptions they give you are English jargon for the 5 start traveler, and very much not correct! So i decided to give some pointers that I thought would be useful if I needed to know something that they wouldn't necessarily write in a book like that.

1. RENT A TRUCK!!!!!! Do not rent a car if you are driving around the coast of Costa Rica. You will have to drive through mountains and hills and dirt roads and a car just wont make it if you want to experience the 'real' outdoorsy CR. Also.. when you DO rent a car, make sure you find out about the CAR INSURANCE policy CR has because when you get your price online and then when you get there, the price is COMPLETELY different.
We booked our truck through a travel agent, and it was $400 for 11 days. When we got to Costa Ricas Economy Rent-a-Car, the price literally doubled, going to $960. WTF is what I was wondering... when the sheet of paper i had said "price guarenteed" -- I soon realized that nothing in a 3rd world country is "guarenteed" and nothing is what it says --
So apparently CR has only ONE insurance company in the whole country and its mad expensive. So... come prepared to put down a deposit PLUS pay for the car at that point in time, receiving the deposit back when you return the car.
So much for THAT money!

2. Buy a map... maybe buy TWO maps. San Jose is worthless. They have signs I'd say every 13 blocks or so. So if you are going the wrong way, its not well noticed street signs they have. No. They are hidden and worn away,,, on the wrong side of the building. Fun stuff like that. So literally you need to know which direction you are going in and just go that way. Dont even bother waiting to find a street sign.
Also, we found out that they change the direction of the one-way streets sometimes and obv the map wasnt updated, OR they will change roads into sidewalks..
It makes for an interesting journey.

3. Route 27 does not exist ... quite yet! Only half of it is built. Although on the map, it shows point blank that the road is there. It is one of the biggest roads/highways in the country! Yet. Not finished yet. So when you are driving on the beginning, all of a sudden it just ends and dumps you into downtown San Jose --the most confusing place ever-- and says nothing about "detour" or anything like that!!!
So.. keep that in mind when you are traveling. It is under construction right now, and it seems like they were making progress on it so consult someone before choosing that route.

4. Learn Spanish!! or get a dictionary. If you are driving in the inland Costa Rica, there aren't many people who speak another language besides Spanish so if you are lost (which its not hard to get lost due to no signs!) and you have to ask someone directions, its best to know SOME Spanish so you can get the directions!! I knew for the most part what people were saying but once they got into more details, I was lost. I will be learning Spanish completely before I go to Peru/South America in June.

5. On Puerto Viejo (Caribbean Coast):

There is only way to get there. One road. Mostly dirt road. Its a great place. I love it there, I would like to move there and open up a hotel. The hotel we stayed at, La Perla Negra, is recommended by me. It is hard to find at night, because the sign is very high up in the air, but its not right in the center of the town and its right on the ocean. Its about $60-70 a night. I found them through hotels.com When i was looking, I was having a hard time finding any places to stay on the Caribbean coast that weren't outrageously expensive. Don't stay in Limon. Its mainly commercial and pretty ghetto-ized.
Everyone is really great there. The weather is great, especially during March. The rainy season I heard it wasnt so much fun. But its definitely worth checking out.

6. Imperial is the Costa Rican beer and Derby are the Costa Rican cigarettes --incase that interests you ;)

More to come.
Ciao 4 now.

To do List of 2009

I have been thinking about things I would like to have accomplished by the end of 2009. I accomplished a lot last year, so I would like to do the same again this year!

1. Get a new and BETTER job.

2. Go on 2 big vacations. Costa Rica (i am already going :) and Europe. Plus California and New Hampshire.

3. Move to a bigger apartment around September; and/or different state and get a PUPPY!

4. Pay off one my Juniper credit card.

5. Take the GMATs so I can finish applying to Baruch.

6. Get an article published in a magazine.

7. Take and conquer and online writing class.

8. Go sky diving.

9. Lose 15 pound.

10. SAVE MONEY!!!!!

11. Control my shopping habit.

12. Spend more time with my ladies and my family.

13. Acquire more fashionable pieces.

..... That's about all i can think of for now.. I will add on i am sure.

Happy St. Pattys Day Bitches ;)

Countdown to Take-off

Only 4 more days until we leave for Costa Rica!
I am doing the pre-trip crazy crap stuff now -- renewing liscense, paying all the bills, getting my hair did, switching cars, cleaning, buying new clothes, buying another memoryfor my camera...and then making sure everything at work is kosher before I leave ahhhhh. The planning! The planning!
Right now I am sitting at the hair salon waiting for my color. I am starving! Meetings all day and then happy hour with soup as my lunch doesn't give me much to go on today esp since the whole dinner part didn't happen due to drinking and falling asleep on the couch thing.
I am going to the mall to get some stuff for the trip -- you always need something new and cute for a vacation! I got a new dress last week so I am looking for some sandals and shirts or capris and skirts, plus a bathing suit for the bf. See what else I can find at H&M and Express.
I wanted to go to the outlets I just don't think I have enough time. Althought I could use a couple Bebe shirts....

More lata
I hate JV mall btw
