No Kids Allowed Restaurant - Thoughts?

A restaurant in Pennsylvania is banning kids under 6 years old from coming to eat there. What are your thoughts on this?

I can understand where the owner is coming from, but honestly? In this day and age, are you REALLY doing that well that you can pick and choose who your clients can be? Most restaurants I know are begging for business, and this guy can just turn it away?

So I dont really see it from that stand point, and I work in a restaurant and it really isnt that obnoxious, yeah its a little more work, but hello? People with kids can't go out to eat for 6 years with their kids because of assholes like that?  No thanks.. I think its just wrong.

Gimme your thoughts on this.

I think that's discriminatory. Everyone has kids and to say you can't go in the place is wrong. It's almost like they are denying you being human. I can understand that after hours they do a 18 and up nights or something like that but during the day? That's lousy. Not a great business move I think on that guy's part.

Before seeing the video, I imagined the restaurant to be this "upscale, pretentious" establishment.
Wow!

Not the greatest business move, I agree....but sorry I do have a "but"....

I was out eating at a restaurant with friends last Thursday (incl. their two kids - age 3 and 6), those kids really behave well. There were this other party at the restaurant with 3 kids, and those 3 kids were all over the place - as is parents didn't not lift one eye and even yelled at the waiter when she asked them to please have their kids to stay at their table, as they were annoying other guests - my friends kids got really scared of those 3 bullies.

Well the issue is really the parents not teaching their kids any manners what so ever, but does this mean that it is ok, that their kids spoil other people's experience at a restaurant?

This brings forward a dilemma: a restaurant might target a family with well-mannered kids in their pursue of not having loud and controlled kids in their restaurant.

So I can actually see both sides of this issue making it hard to chose side.

Eh I can go both ways on this.

I'll break the mold and say that I love this.

I've been watching this on the Philly news since it started and been rooting for it all the way.

I'm not a big fan of children to being with, but nothing is worse than when they ruin a meal. While I do blame disruptive children more on the parents, if I wanted to eat somewhere with kids, I would go somewhere else. It's just one restaurant. It's not going to be a movement. If people boycott it, they'll learn their lesson, but they would definitely get my business.

It's certainly their choice, I suppose, but I'm not cheering for them because they've closed their doors to a segment of the population some people find obnoxious. I find there's a lot of people in this world who are over the age of six who can be obnoxious, so it does feel a little like singling them out. I've eaten in lots of restaurants where the kids are well-behaved, polite, and even entertaining. I don't go to a restaurant to pretend that the younger set doesn't exist, so I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to frequent a particular restaurant just because their absence there is guaranteed.

if he doesn't want kids in his restaurant he should own a bar. I hate kids and still think banning them is ridiculous. And like mentioned the place isn't event that great.
