trip to Boston.

Boston!

I haven't been there in a couple years! I am really excited to go. M and I haven't been away together since........ July or August? I haven't been away since then either! I am going nuts! So glad to get out of the tri-state area, even if its only to Boston.

It sucks that we are only going for one day, but whatever, it's better then nothing and totally worth being off from work tomorrow.

We are going to the Sam Adam's brewery during the day tomorrow and hopefully over to Newbury Street and to Quincy Market or somewhere for lunch and dinner. And then out to some bars tomorrow night. And Saturday we're going to meet up with my friends and their kids in Salem for lunch and to do the Salem thing.. whatever that might be.

Does anyone have any suggestions on restaurants or coffee shops or anything nice that we can do while we are there in such a short time?!

Any suggestions are appreciated!!!

On the Streets

I love the Sartorialist.  They have such great pictures. Have you ever just went through all of their pictures? People on the streets are so fashionable! I wouldn't look nearly as good as half these people on just some random day.
And I love people watching.. so this site works in my favor :)

Would you....

Go up to someone and tell them their nipple is sticking out, booger on their nose, something in their teeth, toilet paper on their shoe, shirt tucked into their pants, zipper undone........ would you go up to a stranger and tell them?

they were talking about it on the radio today and some girl said she went up to a stranger who had her nipple sticking out and hugged her like she knew her and told her quietly her nipple was sticking out and then pulled her shirt up...... honestly... i wouldnt go that far to touching her shirt but i would probably tell her!

what about you??

babies and weddings and babies

I finally got to see my best friend this weekend... and she is 14 weeks preggo!!! Meaning I will be an aunt soon! It was so nice to see her. It's been like almost two months because she has been sick and then busy and then schedules didnt work. So it was good to just chill out, talk and watch tv.

i wish she lived closer. i mean granted she is only 30-40 minutes away but when i get out of work so late and have the limited time to hang out and she is sick and tired, it sucks :(

we are planning her wedding for either next summer of February 2012. i think baby and wedding in one year might be too much.

the crazy thing is, this is V, my ex best friend, that i wasnt talking to because of my Ex T, and i reunited with her in March. She was supposed to get married this year and i wouldnt have been in the wedding because we weren't friends. But (unfortunately) it got called off and we started talking again and she met this new guy, whom she is going to marry and is having the baby with.

i am just glad that after all that heart ache and shit she went through that i wasnt there for, i can be there for her now during these times and all these crazy life changes. its a good feeling to know that i can be there and i can continue making up all this time that i owe her and when she needs people now.

Groupon.com

Has anyone heard of this site? I recently just heard of it when my friend told me that Groupon was coming to Stamford. I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about and then she was in SHOCK that I had no idea!

So let me introduce it to you because it is actually pretty cool. Groupon.com

Basically the idea is this, taking ideas all around each city of coupons for lower deals, except you buy them basically as a gift certificate. For food, spas, hair salons, hotels, football games... pretty cool stuff. So check it out in your city!

Let me know your thoughts!

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars

I found this amazing recipe from Food Loves Writing and I needed to share it with you. Please go check out this blog, they have a lots of great things on here :)

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars

Just slightly adapted from The Old Farmer’s Almanac Everyday Recipes
Makes nine bars (although it depends on how you cut them)
Ingredients:
CRUST
1 package (1/3 pound) graham crackers
1/3 cup Sucanat (or packed brown sugar)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
FILLING
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
2/3 cup Sucanat (or packed brown sugar)
1 large egg
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 Tablespoon white spelt (or regular) flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1.5 cups fresh pureed pumpkin (or 3/4 cup from a can)
1/3 cup heavy cream
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9-inch square pan.
For crust: Break the crackers into a food processor. Add the Sucanat and cinnamon, and process into a fine meal. Add the melted butter and process again. Press the crust into the bottom of the buttered pan and slightly up the sides. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool. Reduce oven temp to 325 degrees (although, full disclosure, I completely forgot to do this).
For filling: In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, Sucanat, egg, and egg yolk with an electric mixer. Add vanilla and stir. Add remaining ingredients and stir until smooth. Pour the filling into the crust and bake for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool on a rack. Refrigerate for at least four hours before slicing.
*I thought this was super confusing. My box of organic graham crackers was 14.4 ounces, so a little under a pound, and it had three wrapped packages of crackers inside. I used one of those packages, plus a couple crackers from another.

1010 Project

Take a look at this...

10 photographers. 10 photos each. All taken on 10/10/10.

A single day represented in 100 photographs.

No special occasion, no big event, just the essence of daily life captured through ten lenses.

The 1010 project was devised as an antidote to everything in modern life always having to be bigger, better, louder and brighter than what’s been before.

It’s an opportunity to slow down and appreciate the simple, everyday things that make life beautiful.

See their website: 1010 Project

here are some of my favorites:

Would anyone have any interest in doing this?! I love this idea.... If so,,, let me know! I can arrange this.

The Pressing News

 {picture}

There are some news stories out there lately that are very crappy to hear about and i just want to address them really quick.

-i love football. i do. it's great. and i love the giants and the jets and i love going to their games. but i hate the actual sport. people get so hurt from playing football. Take for instance the college student from Rutgers, he just got paralyzed this past weekend from playing because people play too rough. So many players got hurt this weekend for unnecessary roughness.  I understand that that is their jobs and should know what could happen, but unnecessary roughness is not okay, it can injure people really bad.

and

-Pace University. My college. Pleasantville, my favorite town. Cops shoot and kill one of their football players after they were hit by the football players car. See Story.   There are many ways this story could go. And if I wasn't a cops girlfriend, I would probably be saying the same thing everyone else thinks, that the cop shouldn't have shot him.

Now... the way that I look at it is... yes, I feel bad for the kid who died, and he shouldnt have had to die. But, if you are in a tinted windowed car and you hit a cop with your car who is trying to tell you to move, and the cop is on your hood holding on while you are driving and then you hit a SECOND cop..... there aren't many options going to come out of this. And the outcome will never be good.

It is just unfortunate that people think they need to run from cops and that that was the smart move. Maybe he would have gotten arrested, maybe a ticket.... but the outcome wasn't good at all. And then it's the cops fault because he is trying to save his own life.

This is a very controversial subject and I know that the cop is not always right and I suppose I am a little bias but the reality is is that this happens more often then not because people don't realize what carrying a gun means and how cops are trained.

Any thoughts or opinions?

Aw California..

Last year around this time, I went to California to visit one of my friends and this picture reminded me of Cali. He lives in Santa Cruz and its very laid back and hippie like there.
This is probably the longest I've gone without getting away somewhere this year and I am going nuts! I need to get out of New York and Connecticut. Granted I travel back and forth every single day for work, I just want to go on vacation for the weekend or something. Is that so much to ask?! HOPEFULLY, the last weekend of October M and I will go to Boston for two days, and then to the Sam Adams brewery... I just need to get out of these states. Even if I am stuck in New England..fine, so be it.

Does anyone else feel stuck and need to get the hell out of where they live just for a couple days?

happy weekend everyone.

Quote of the Day

"if you look close enough to the world around you, you might find someone like you. someone trying to find their way. someone trying to find their self. sometimes it seems like you are the only one in the world whose struggling, whose frustrated, unsatisfied, barely getting by. but that feelings a lie. and if you just hold on, just find the courage to face it all for another day, someone or something will find you and make it all ok. because we all need a little help sometimes. we need someone to remind us that it won't always be this and that someone is out there and that someone will find you."

I am absolutely Team Edward but Jacob was looking finnnnnnnnnnne. lol.. I just love them. Am I an idiot for wanting their love? Vampire or not, i love their love!!!! I know it's just a movie and a book and whatever, but someone should be able to love me like that right? I mean... it exists out there, doesn't it?!

Tell me what everyone thought on Eclipse..  i loved it.

i miss my girls.

i have more so recently realized lately that the close friends i used to hang out with all the time months and months ago, have slowly not been around. i know its because of schedules and life changes and relationships, they're just not around as much anymore. i am sure it has a lot to do with me being busy as well, so i am not blaming anyone.

its just that i miss them. don't get me wrong, i love my time with M and he is slowly but surely becoming my one of my best friends but i just miss the girl time sometimes.

i am sure that this happens a lot to friends when people sort of drift off going their own ways and the only way you communicate is through Gchat, text, bbm, emails or phone calls.

have you experienced this?

Black Disease that Never goes Away

this is such a great picture to describe my ex T and how he is always lingering somewhere in my life and just will not go away.

i have not spoken to him in over a year. we have not seen each other in the same amount of time. yet every now and then i hear something about him that makes me so incredibly angry --a little nagging bug that just wont leave my life.

i don't stress about him anymore, i stress about the fact that he still has one connection to me in my life and i really wish he would just disappear. i don't understand why anyone thinks that he is that great that they need him in their life.

when my fish died last november, i felt like that was the day when anything between us was really severed. and a year later i have to find out it's not. it's just like, go the fuck away already. and it's not him trying to be dragged back into a part of me, it's others.

i was actually just recapping the past couple years with M (current boyfriend) last night about what i went through and talking about it really made me see how insanely STUPID i looked for staying with him! like, what the FUCK was i thinking?!

i was so miserable -- how did i just sit there and deal with not being spoken to, not being touched, not being slept in the same bed with when we lived in the same house, being ignored, hating my friends, not enjoying anything about me, hating me when he was drunk.

How did i deal with that?

and more importantly, WHY did I deal with that?

I honestly have no answer for that and it's disgusting. he wasn't a TERRIBLE person, but he doesn't know how to treat someone as a girlfriend. he may have loved me, but showed it in very strange ways and i believe he actually hated me more then loved me and that definitely showed throughout our relationship.

i'm in a better place then i have been in a really long time and i have learned many, many things from that whole experience. and it has made me who i am today, and for people who don't APPRECIATE you for you, you're better off without them.
