Cold Spring - A Dog Day

It was around 50 degrees on Sunday and I wanted to go somewhere outside so the roomie & Simba came with me to Cold Spring. I love Cold Spring. That is my "away from it all but not that far away" spot. It's close enough that I can drive there for the afternoon and far enough away that no one will be there.

I love to go there and just hang out, walk around, go hiking, eat some lunch.

I used to go there with T all the time, so I have been wanting to make new memories there so when I go there, it doesn't just remind me of T. I invited someone else but they ended up being busy, and I got upset about it for many different reasons, all being mostly that I can't hold them to anything because we are only hanging out... soooooo... needless to say the roomie saw my anger increasing because it was nice out and I was stuck, so she came with me.

And we had a great time. So did Simba.

Although Cold Spring is definitely no Portsmouth, and the Hudson River is definitely not the Atlantic Ocean, it was still nice enough for the short period of time that it was warm and sunny!

Happiness Is..

It is holiday time, I need to remember what it is in life that makes me happy. Somewhere along the beaten path, I have slightly forgotten what and how. A lot of people have been doing posts like this lately so I figure why not.

“Maybe mistakes are what make our fate... without them what would shape our lives? Maybe if we had never veered off course we wouldn't fall in love, have babies, or be who we are. After all, things change, so do cities, people come into your life and they go. But it's comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart... and if you're very lucky, a plane ride away” --Sex& The City

Portsmouth, NH

I was inspired by Naturally Nina's guide to Boston, please check out her blog it is great! So I just wanted to share my favorite places in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in case you have a chance to go there.

First off, New Hampshire has beaches (many people dont think they do) and yes, its the ocean. And its beautttiful. If you can go during the fall, DO IT. Best time ever. The summer is awesome too -- winter, not so much.

My favorite places that make Portsmouth my home away from home.

  • Friendly Toast

best breakfast food ever. click here.

  • Breaking New Grounds Coffee shop
They have all this coffee from around the world and its a HUGE place and they have an outdoor seating area. What else could you ask for? They don't have a website.

  • Serendipity
picture from their blog, please check it out Serendipity
I have bought many cute dresses and bags from them every time I go up there.

  • Bullmoose Music
They have the best music here, and it's great because there aren't many independent music stores left, and it's awesome that this place is still remaining. Check out their website.

  • The Port Inn
My favorite place to stay while in Portsmouth... although in the summer its kind of expensive. But worth it! Visit their website.

  • Warren's Lobster House
Although this is in Kittery, Maine, it is like 5 minutes across the bridge from Portsmouth. They have the BEST lobster and I would recommend it to everyone! Visit their website.

  • Fat Belly's Pub
I like this bar because it's a good time. There are a lot of other bars, but too many to name. Here is their website. Another good one is The Press Room.

  • Route 1A -- The Beach --Rye -- Hampton
Beach in Rye, around Route 1A

Beautiful!!! Wouldn't miss it for the world!

There is a lot more, but those are just a few key places.

f-f-f-f FRIDAY!

The best day of the week!
Going to Portsmouth this weekend so that is exciting.. a test on T and I to see how that goes. Then next weekend is my friends wedding, which will be another test.... we shall see on Monday. I will update and let you know. I might be able to post pictures from my phone! Except I haven't figured out how to do that yet besides emailing it to myself.

SO... this is so ridiculous, but yesterday before I left work, I found this blog award and I saved it to my computer and then I left before I could write the entry and then last night I finished it and I knew there was ONE more but I could NOT find the comment.

So... here the award.. and whoever it was that gave it to me, I am SO sorry, I cannot find your comment anywhere, I have looked through the past like 10 posts of mine with no luck! I am so sorry! And thank you SO muchhhhh for giving me an award. I feel like such an ass!

CORRECTION: THANK YOU JANE!!!! I really appreciate it!! :)

This is a random post, FYI.

I was thinking of doing something for Fridays weekly, but nothing I am coming up with is good enough yet. So in the mean time, this was a bizarre fact that I found:
In Switzerland, it's against the law to slam your car door.

Also, some Michael Jackson quotes I saw in People when I was getting a pedicure

"People can always have a judgment about anything you do. So it doesn't bother me. Everything can be strange to someone."

"I feel compelled to give some sense of escapism. I think its the reason I'm here."

"I give my all in my work because I want to live even after death."

Okay everyone have a great weekend.
