the rest is just sand.

I got this chain letter in an email awhile ago and I am so happy I found this again.. What a great lesson.

Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Beers

When things in your life seems almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers .

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite
passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else---the small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf ball first---the things that really matter. Set your
priorities. The rest is just sand.'

6 month check-up

Naturally Nina had a great post about her goals for 2009 and it is half way over, so I should see what I have accomplished this year. I really hope I have accomplished something...
My goals post

2009
1. Get a new and BETTER job. Still Nothing -- didnt realize how hard this was going to be!

2. Go on 2 big vacations. Costa Rica (i am already going :) and Europe. Plus California and New Hampshire. Done!! Costa Rica for 11 days and Peru for 14 days!! No New Hampshire yet, but hopefully soon.

3. Move to a bigger apartment around September; and/or different state and get a PUPPY! Well... no puppy in the plans, moving is, can't get into much detail until later but this is in the works.

4. Pay off one my Juniper credit card. Not even close. Due to the fact that I am making 1/2 the money I made last year.

5. Take the GMATs so I can finish applying to Baruch. I will not be going to Baruch. I finished applying to Mercy and will continue to take classes there for Education since I got into the Teaching program

6. Get an article published in a magazine. Not yet, but I have been actively blogging and have almost 100 followers and people who read what I write! That is amazing in my eyes :)

7. Take and conquer and online writing class. Once I acquire some money, I can focus on that.

8. Go sky diving. Nope.

9. Lose 15 pound. YES!!!!! I HAVE OFFICIALLY LOST 15 POUNDS!!

10. SAVE MONEY!!!!! Nothing. Not one freaking dollar.

11. Control my shopping habit. I have definitely. I do not buy or shop anywhere close to as much as I have in the past, and I just buy things I need right now.

12. Spend more time with my ladies and my family. I have not, friends yes, family no. Family I will be spending more time with quite soon.

13. Acquire more fashionable pieces. I got a new Kate Spade bag and some more pants and skirts from BCBG and Banana Republic/Express... so.. i guess you can say they are fashionable. lol

NEW 2009 Goals to be completed:

1. Be happy.
2. Get out of the rut that I am in.
3. Stick with my blog and continue to grow it everyday and eventually publish something now that I know people will actually read it!
4. Move.
5. Continue with my teaching plan.
6. Quit Smoking.
7. Find the independent woman I once was and bring her back.
8. Make a good career move.

Wish me luck. That shit is difficult!

HonestScrap Award

I have been tagged! Thanks Ana from far away! Check out her blog
Something GOOD In Everything I see

"The HonestScrap award comes with a caveat or two. Firstly, you have to tell your readers ten things about you they may not know, but that are true. Secondly, you have to tag 10 people with the award. Thirdly, let all the people you've given the award to know that they've gotten it (comment on their blogs or something). And finally, make sure you link back to the person who awarded you."

So here are 10 facts about the Novelista Barista...

1. My name is Jennifer, Jen, Jenny... whatever -- i live in the new york suburbs, have grown up in connecticut, I am 20 something, 24 to be exact and I'm an aries

2. I am a bad liar, and i get caught when I lie. I hate to lie. I am a very honest person, except in some situations where its necessary to alter the truth, but I will tell you straight out how it is and not sugar coat it for you. And try to be as honest as possible without hurting your feelings.

3. I've been in one car accident that was bad. We got hit by a head on by a drunk driver and were all taken away in ambulances but were fine, thank god!

4. I wish Edward Cullen would appear in my bedroom… he´s a HOT vampire, and he is a gentlemen --- ANA I HAVE TO USE THIS BECAUSE IT IS TRUE!! And I love love loveeee Twilight.

5. I don't cook. Only for a few special people have I attempted to cook and/or make anything that wasn't pre-made or ordered in. And I dont want to learn. Not yet, anyway.

6. I change my desire of life profession almost every month. It is actually quite annoying now since I really need to find something and stick with it. Sometimes i want to be a teacher, others a writer, another a media person.... UGH. If only they had a masters degree for online media stuff, I would take that!

7. I care too much about other people and not enough about myself. I put everyone before myself and usually I end up hurting myself by doing this. I am finding this very hard to change this fact.

Thank god the sun finally came out today. It hasn't been in New York in more than a week.  So now i am tan for me! Awesome since i'm Irish and don't get tan. It usually takes lots of tanning over and over in small doses for me to acquire color.  I went to the park and sat in the sun on the hudson.. it was really nice.
I haven't been there in a real long time. I used to go there and just hang out and think. So this was nice. My friend met me there and we talked for a really long time, and it helped with the amounts of things I am thinking about right now and the shit load of stress that's on my shoulders right now. I needed more of an inside opinion and I got it.

I am so stressed out, I really want to cry. Just thinking about what is going on makes me want to cry because my life didn't work out the way I thought a while back that it was going to. And now I am here, and its so far from the place where it should be.  But that is my life. And now I have to deal with it. Its better than later. Why cant things be easy again? Where did it go wrong? WHERE DID IT GO WRONG.

I just want to know that..
and here i am.

i hope the next step in my life is on the sunny side... it has potential i think..

and now i have to play doctor, and band-aid up my life  --i hope i don't fuck up.

Guster

I totally forgot how much I love this song.....

Demons

My words confuse you
My eyes don’t move a blink
Cause it’s easier sometimes
Not to be sincere
Somehow I make you believe
Believe
When I speak I cross my fingers
Will you know you’ve been deceived?
I find a need to be the demon
A demon cannot be hurt
Honest is easy
Fiction is where genius lies
Cause it’s easier sometimes
Not to be involved
Somehow I make you believe
Believe
When I speak I cross my fingers
Will you know you’ve been deceived?
I find a need to be the demon
A demon cannot be hurt
When I speak I cross my fingers
Will you know you’ve been deceived?
I find a need to be the demon
A demon cannot be hurt
When I speak I cross my fingers
Will you know you’ve been deceived?
I find a need to be the demon
A demon cannot be hurt
