Library Cards?

{picture}

I got on! The library in my town is actually extremely nice and brand new. They just happen to have the books that I want there too.

It is nice to have a library card and to be able to get these books out and then return them and not have to spend any money. But at the same time, I absolutely love buying new books and going to Borders or Barnes and Noble, but it really does cost too much to buy books. Spending $25 on a book that I will most likely only read once isn't something I want to spend my $25 on anymore. Now that I can just take the book out for free, although I won't have it for my collection, I still am able to read it.

How do you feel about library cards and taking books out vs. buying them?

I'm a sucker for a good book at Barnes & Noble or Borders, but I have to agree.. spending the money isn't exactly smart when I'm only going to read the book once. I have a library card, and I just might start using the library!!

I feel the same way you do about library cards; but at the same time, I love being able to own books!!! I daydream of having my own personal den with 2 or 3 bookcases, shelved with good reads.
My library does sell books, at rates much lower than Borders/Barnes & Noble; but the selections aren't always attractive.

I love buying books but you are right. Perhaps one can borrow from the library and if you feel it's worthy of being in the collection you buy it after. Could even buy it used! I love it when books look like they've been read 100 times. :o)

I love the library, the environment is so much better than any place. I don't feel watched while I am reading in a chair.

I love the library! I haven't had as much time to read lately as I'd like, but wandering the stacks looking for something good is one of my favorite things (this may be because my grandma was a librarian so some of my first memories are from the library!)

i have a problem with libraries over at my country here. I can't stand the fact that good books are always only given a week to borrow.

Personally, I prefer buying my own books because I love books and I love having them as well. Makes me happy having a whole shelf, growing as I finish reading a book some other time

I loooooooove the library, but I definitely buy more books than I check out. I like having full bookshelves at home. :) Luckily, my library has an ongoing booksale on the lower level and I have gotten a ton of great books there for $0.25 to $1.00. :)
