NYC Public Schools... Survival of the Fittest in the Snow!

I work for NYC public schools and they literally do not close their schools, EVER. If you live in New York or the Northeast, you know how much snow we have had in the past couple of months and this week has been almost ridiculous.

Every single school district around us was closed... expect New York City.  Major De Blasio thought it was a good idea that we still have school. He's so wonderful!! See this article.

The thing with this is, fine, we have to go to school and fine we have to drive in, but seriously, these kids take public transportation to school, is it really worth their lives to get to school to only have a few people there and then to do nothing at school?!

Seriously!?

Tomorrow we shall see what happens tomorrow but my real question is.....

Is it more important to go to school? Or to be safe in extreme blizzard conditions?

Snow Day!!!

One time I can actually enjoy a snow day. Given I used to work at a newspaper, we never had snow days.... even in state of emergencies.. we still had to go to work.

Now I am working from home and it's awesome.

We haven't gotten as much snow in New York as DC did... and damn kids, I am sorry to you all in DC and Maryland because you got SPANKED with a shit load of snow!! But the worst is yet to come so we will see how that goes!

Today is about catching up on everyone's blogs, relaxing, drinking tea, doing work, and chillin out.

10 Things That Make it Really Christmas

1. Everyone hoping that it will snow on Christmas --even if you live in a tropical place.

2. The holiday decorations outside of all the houses, inside of the house, in the office, and on the trees in the town/city

3. Christmas trees on the top of the cars

4. Crazy traffic and ridiculousness in the retail stores

5. Holiday parties

6. Drinking your sorrows away with your family

7. Spending all of your money on OTHER people

8. Christmas cookies and holiday baking oh and holiday weight gain

9. Ridiculous amounts of holiday music

and

10. Holiday scrooges who take out their unhappiness on the people in the cars in front of them, in the stores, at the office, on the internet, walking on the street, in the subway, on the train, in the parking lot! The list goes on, you know what I mean.

What did I miss?

A Couple Things..

A couple things worth mentioning.

+ It is snowing right now in New York. WTF

+ I changed my header picture again, this I believe is the final (for now) one because I really like it. Please feel free to comment and tell me if you love it or hate it.

+ I am going to write a Broken Heart story about T, coming really soon. I wasn't sure if I was ready to or not, but I think I am. Keep on the look out for it. I will also be writing one about my ex-best friend V... should be great...

+ Thanks to everyone who has participated in my Broken Heart Files. Everyone has been really great about sending them over to me and then commenting on each others. Some people who have posted have said that it has been helpful to them in the grieving process and that is so great to know that we can do that for each other, for strangers, who come together on blogs, to support one another. Its amazing and I am so glad to be apart of it everyday! Okay enough mushy stuff!

+Is there anyway to put a timer sort of on your blog posts so that it will post the next day if you're not at the computer? Is that possible or are we not at that stage yet...?

+ It's almost Friday! And it BETTER NOT snow/ice/do anything but be SUNNY on Saturday, TB and I will be gallivanting upstate and it cannot rain!
