Ivy

Meet Ivy.

My project dog for the day.
I spent 4 hours working with her today. It took an hour of that to get her used to me and then another 30 to get her outside of the building.
She was so scared and so cute and so wonderful... i wish i could adopt her.

Once i got her outside, all she did was sit in the flowers like in that picture and be scared. I had to bribe her with treats all the way to the play pen for her to play with another dog.

It worked, because she got there and acted like a psycho dog! But had a good time.

As I am bringing her back to her run, a couple is really interested in her and left to bring their dog to see if they get along together.

And she was adopted :)

nice.

What a sweet little pooch--I'm so glad to hear that she was adopted. I think it's awesome that you volunteer at an animal shelter.

Yay for Ivy finding a new family!! :)

If I could I would rescue hundreds of animals. It's just not possible, unfortunately. :(

I worked in a shelter for about a year and I always had "project dogs". I worked with a lot of dogs that the rest of the staff pretty much said there was no hope for, and in a pretty short period of time I got them to trust me and then getting them ready for adoption was a fairly quick process from there. There really is nothing more fulfilling than that.

Aww, that is so very kind of you to volunteer. Ironically I went to a shelter today, it was my first time actually, and my boyfriend and I immediately fell in love with this Dachshund puppy - still a baby. I wish I could adopt him but my apartment doesn't allow dogs! It's so sad what happens to these puppies and you just wish you could save all of them. Glad you give them a little bit of loving to brighten up their day.

What a precious story!! I adopted my dog from a shelter last year about a week before my wedding. Not the most ideal time but we just fell in love with him =)
