The camera I got before I got my SLR is the best point and shoot camera I've ever seen. It is a Sony H3 and it has the capability of taking great videos, too. I have taken it to concerts and gotten great sound and video. The picture quality is great, too...I had it in Italy on my honeymoon and it is the next best thing to an SLR and it fits in your purse. I think it was about 300 bucks. Worth every penny.

I use a Cannon Powershot SD750 Digital GLPH. I love it. I take it everywhere. It takes beautiful shots and can take video. Honestly whatever camera you get I recommend buying it at Best Buy and get the warranty so if something happens the Geek Squad will repair it and if you get a free Best Buy card (kinda like the cards you get at Shop Rite for sales) you will recieve points and get free money to spend in the store.

Hope that helps!!

just about any digi cam would suit your needs- the standard, now, is running about 10some megapixels. most of the great stuff on flickr is played around with in photoshop. unless you're SERIOUSLY into photographry, you really don't need anything better than what most digital cameras are offering. 10mpgs and great editing software work wonders ;)

I really don't know much about cameras, ok I don't know anything!! However, I've heard Nikon is the best brand for cameras, my bf has a cannon that takes awesome pics, I have a Sony cybershot and my pics are ok. But I don't change the settings or any of that so that's probabbly why. They're all basically from $300-$400 I think.

I have a Nikon D60 SLR (which is - or was - a bit pricey when I purchased it). But for the times when I don't need all that power, I am thinking about getting a Nikon Coolpix S1 which I think takes great photos! And it looks like Torie Jayne has some samples you can check out. :-)

Good luck!!! I'm obbbbsessed with Canon. I have a Cannon rebel, but that's my pricey birthday-present camera. I also had a little Canon Powershot and I must say... sometimes it took pictures that were just as great as my rebel's!!

It depends on what you're looking for in a camera. Personally, I like small cameras - tuck into my pocket - that take great photos with high megapixels. A DSLR is great, sure, but I can't use it at the bar when out with friends.

I have a Samsung TL100 that I bought a few months ago for $250, and I *love* it. 12.2 megapixels, 3x zoom. It's seriously fabulous, and so small and compact. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a versatile camera - one that isn't professional, but takes amazing photos and is tiny.

P.S. You can check photo quality by looking at the "artsy fartsy" photos on my blog.

I have a canon SD750. It's about 2 years old so there's newer versions. I think you can get one for around $200. It's been awhile since I looked.

I highly HIGHLY recommend this camera. I love it and will never buy another brand!

It depends if you're after a point & shoot or an SLR. I have a point & shoot cos I like to carry it around with me EVERYWHERE which I wouldn't do with an SLR. Mine is a Canon Digital IXUS 80IS and these are some of the pics that I've taken: My Flickr and these are some that it is capable of taking (I haven't mastered all the features yet) - Pics with this camera

I've used Canon cameras my whole life. Right now I use the Digital Rebel XTi, but they also have more affordable options that will still get you great photos. Good luck in your hunt!
