Leaving for California Today

CALIFORNIA!!
I am leaving today at 6pm, I cannot wait!!!! This is really exciting, I cannot believe I am actually going.

I have been wanting to go to California since I was in high school and just never went. I have also not flown within the United States in more than four years, I have been going international every year AND I have not been on a vacation without T or by myself in more than 3 years. EEK. Breaking new records here.

It will be good to get away, especially after this crazy ass summer and drama I have been through because the last vacation I went on was to Peru, and DON'T get me wrong, I loved Peru and had a great time with T but that was a crazy up-in-the air time with our relationship so it was almost stressful as opposed to vacation-like.

I am excited for what this trip has in store for me.. I know that I want to:

  • Drive across the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Go to a winery
  • Go to some awesome funky coffee shops
  • Cable Cars!
  • Alcatraz
  • MAYBE Yosemite National Park if I can get there!
  • DRIVE on Route 1!!!!!
  • Pier 39 (thanks Laura Marie for the idea!)
  • Hate Street and Cha Cha Chas Restaurant (Thanks Seriouslyright? for the ideas!)
Anywhere else I should stop by while in San Francisco?! ps... my friend helped me out with the domain name.... SO now when you type in www.novelistabarista.com it goes straight to my blog and is MINE :) I feel so official haha

Interactive Thursday is still on for tomorrow so don't forget!

Everyone have a good day :)

Have fun! That is my only advice, LOL. That is so exciting. I hope you have a fabulous trip. The only place is CA I ever go is LA b/c I have friends there...none in San Fran. So I don't know where else you can go. But everything you mentioned sounds freaking fantastic!

Regarding Alcatraz, you have to book your visit in advance. I tried to go there with my friend two years ago, but it was booked up, but then again it was also Summer. When you go to San Francisco, take the Golden Gate Bridge to go to Sausalito. It's such a beautiful cute little town. You'll have so much fun, I loved it there. I'm excited for you!! :-D

omg, I'm so jealous! I LOVE San Fran!! I went there last year in April for a few days to visit my sister in college and I didn't want to leave. I didn't get to see Alcatraz because I went there too late. I suggest buying your tickets the day before you plan on going. And you don't have to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge if you don't want to, you can walk it! That's what I did, it was so cool. To get an awesome view of the bridge go to Fort Point. They allow you to go on top of the Fort and you are standing right underneath the bridge. It's so fabulous & really chilly so bring a sweatshirt. I'd even go as far as to say to bring a coat! lol, I was dying.

You should check out this video my sister & I made. We were obsessed with "Full House" when we were younger, so when I was there we did some research, found the Tanner House and the park where they shot their intro and made our own. Haha

Lol.. HAVE FUN!!!!! Can't wait to hear all about!

I'm sure there are tons of things to do.
I wish I could give you some suggestions, but I still have yet to go. I've only explored Southern California so far. Look forward to hearing about all the fun stuff you get to see and do.

Have fun! Yosemite is a LONG way from SF. I think you'd like it down in the Mission. There's some really yummy restaurants down there! And by down there, I mean I used to live in the Marina which is at the northern end of the city and the mission is at the south. :) Also ... I think you'd really like the Noe Valley area.

You might try Muir Woods if you're looking for some beautiful nature. Its WAY closer than yosemite ... maybe just 30 minutes. And the redwoods are INSANELY beautiful!

HAVE FUN!
